Minciunele – little lies :)

This recipe is one of my oldest memories, my grandmother’s “minciunele” and I can only wonder why it took so much time to make it.

  • 2 1/2 glasses of flour
  • 3 egg yolks (or 2 egg yolks and 1 full egg)
  • 1/2 glass milk
  • 1/4 tbs salt
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 2-3 tbs rum or some other liquor or vanilla extract

  • combine everything
  • split the dough in 3 (depending on your work surface) and then apply the following steps
  • lay the dough on a light floured surface
  • roll the dough until it’s 3-5 mm thin in a rectangular shape
  • cut slices 3 cm wide the cut each slice to obtain 6-10 cm long stripes.
  • you should have now a 3 x 6-10 cm rectangle of dough
  • with a knife cut a small (2cm) incision on the middle parallel with the longer side
  • take one end and pass it through the incision, gently pull until it’s on the other side
  • cook in a pan with some sunflower oil
  • dry on a paper towel to remove the extra oil
  • sugar and serve
  • (optional) you can make glazing sugar by mixing together sugar and cinnamon sticks with the blender. This will give a special aroma.
  • enjoy.
