Flan patissier

N-am mai pozat/gatit de ceva vreme dar unul din lucrurile care imi lipsesc cel mai tare de fiecare data cand ma intorc din Franta este boulangeria de la fiecare colt de strada, croissantul cu migdale (si ciocolata) si alte minunatii pacatoase. Asa ca din gand in gand combinat cu un weekend ploios am reusit sa duc la implinire o bunatate de flan auriu cu aroma de vanilie.

Tort

TORT, torturi, s. n. Prăjitură (de obicei de formă cilindrică) făcută din mai multe straturi de aluat, având între ele straturi de cremă, de dulceață etc., acoperită cu o glazură sau cremă ornamentală etc. (sursa: dex).

Din pacate nu stiu nici o sursa unde pot sa gasesc o felie de tort care sa respecte definitia de mai sus. Majoritatea “torturilor” din cofetarii consta intr-o matrita de plastic in care s-a turnat o crema groasa si sunt acoperite cu un strat de alta culoare. Asa ca am profitat de noul an ca un motiv perfect pentru un tort. Rezultatul, chiar daca nu foarte spectaculos vizual respecta definitia de mai sus si in plus a fost si foarte bun.

Poppy seed biscuits

I ended up with this recipe after searching for a nice holiday gift for my friends and the result was well received ;) Actually I did some tests and I migrated from cinnamon rolls to cinnamon, raisins rolls and finally to poppy seeds rolls cookies.

Chiffon lemon cake

Sunt un pic pretentios in legatura cu torturile asa ca cea mai eficienta solutie mi s-a parut sa-mi fac unul singur. Rezultatul a fost delicios si racoros, fara a fi atat de strong ca prajitura de lamai. Pentru mine, tortul perfect.

Prajitura cu lamaie

Prajitura cu lamaie pare mai curand iesita din laboratorul unui alchimist sau magician si totusi reteta este relativ simpla. Iar rezultatul e una din prajiturile mele favorite. Singurul defect: trebuie terminata in 1-2 zile. Dar poate ca nu e un bug ci un feature :)

Sorbet time

On my bicycle trip to Iezer mountains after successfully descending almost 1000m I’ve met a bunch of women collecting forest fruits. They asked me:

– you come from the top of the mountains, aren’t you?

– yes, I replied

– so you must have tasted all that ripe bilberry growing near the top (at almost 2400m)

At this point I said nothing since in the foggy, cold and wet morning I could not see, or pay attention at, any bilberry.

When I arrived home I went straight to the market and found a lot of it since it’s bilberry season indeed. I first though about a bilberry cake but since it was much warmer here in the city than in the mountains I decided on the very simple recipe of sorbet. In romanian this is called “sorbet de afine” (not to be confused with serbet) sau “inghetata de afine”.

Primul tort

Orange mousse

A dessert I wanted to be a bit different for the new year. Inspired from many sources (1, 2, …), here is the “orange mousse” made with oranges, red grapefruit and mandarin oranges.
