It might seem impossible to the people knowing my mother but she called me today asking how to read a document from an USB stick in Ubuntu. Yes, even my mother is using Ubuntu which I installed a few weeks ago. It was more of a distant hope as I would never have hopped she would really use it. She was always afraid of computers and had taken notes with all the steps, click by click. But today she started the computer which logged her automatically and she had found the Openoffice link on the desktop which I have named “word” for her. Here the only problem was how to print and I just came from her after installing my old HP DJ600 printer which still worked so much years later (and it was a breeze to install it in Ubuntu feisty fawn). So today I was proud of my mother and of Linux.

I think your mother would then appreciate an upgrade to v.7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) :)
