Apricot (sour cherry) cake

Apricot cake – prajitura cu caise (sau visine, prune, mere) This is a very common cake here which can be done using apricots, peaches, apples, cherries, sour cherries (most common), bilberries, etc. mostly fresh. It’s quite simple to make but it has a few tricks. Updated: 15-08-2008: the bilberry cake photo Ingredients 3 eggs 1 cup milk 2 cups sugar 3 cups flour 1 tbs baking powder 1/2 cup oil or melted butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 kg fresh fruits with no kernel if it applies to the fruit type Preparation remove the fruits kernel if it’s the case (this is the most time consuming operation, especially for the sour cherries) separate the egg whites and beat them until solid add the sugar, egg yolks, milk mix the flour with the baking powder and add to the composition while mixing it add the butter and the vanilla extract let it rest for 10 minutes while you preheat the oven mix the fruits with a bit of flour, this will help the fruits to leave too much liquid and keep part of the composition uncooked pour the composition in a pan then add the fruits on top, don’t press them into the dough, they will fall by themselfs cook for 30 – 45 minutes be careful when you test the readiness to test around the fruits....

Spicy, deviled eggs

Updated 2012-01-05: These are 2 variations to a recipe I liked a lot as a child since my grandmother was doing it quite often. It is always done around easter a lot when a lot of hard boiled eggs remain in the house but any occasion is fine :) In romanian it’s called “oua umplute” which means filled eggs. Spicy eggs Preparation hard boiled eggs most commonly we use mayo but I also like to use spices blended together as a thick and very “hot” paste: mustard seeds 2 hot peppers coriander seeds 2 gloves garlic 1 green onion a bit of pickled ginger sunflower oil peal and cut the eggs in half lengthwise remove the yolk and mix it with the paste (or the mayo) with a teaspoon put the mix back in the egg serve with bread enjoy

Ro: mancare de cartofi noi Mancare de cartofi noi Ingredients 1 kg new potatoes 1 bundle of fresh dill 1 bundle of green onion 50g of butter Preparation wash the potatoes very very well. If they are too big then you need to peel them otherwise just scratch and clean the crust. Cut them if they are larger than 3x3x3 cm cut the onion melt the butter and start browning the onion on a low flame add the potatoes wait a bit and then add just enough water to cover them increase the flame and boil until there is only one 1 cm of liquid cut and add the dill, season with salt and pepper enjoy

Gandindu-ma la ceva bun azi am ajuns de la imaginea/gustul retetei chinezesti de porc cu sos caramel la mai multe idei (1, 2) pe care le-am combinat. Chiftelute, chiftelute Ingrediente carne tocata (am folosit cam 500g de carne tocata de porc si vita) 1 ceapa putina paine (miezul de la o felie uscata) sau 2 linguri pesmet baza de orez fiert cu sare si cuisoare sau cous cous mirodenii pentru carne: patrunjel, sare, piper, coriandru 1 ou bulion, morcov mirodenii pentru sos: cardamon, piper, coriandru, ardei iute (chilli pepper) susan pentru experiment de chiftelute Metoda am taiat ceapa mic de tot intr-un bol am amestecat carnea cu jumatate din ceapa taiata, painea inmuiata cu apa si stoarsa pesmet, oul, patrunjelul bine taiat am facut niste bilute din amestec cam de 2 cm in diametru (cam cat o nuca) pe care le-am prajit in ulei o parte din bilute le-am dat prin susan inainte sa le prajesc restul de ceapa si morcovul ras l-am calit cu putin ulei adaugand pe urma mirodeniile si bulionul....

In primul rand, multumiri lui Fry pentru articolul atat motivational cat si foarte folositor. A trecut o multime de timp de cand am mancat pentru prima data sushi si in tot acest timp nu m-am gandit niciodata cat de simplu este de facut. In Franta colegii nu ma prea intelegeau de ce frecventez atat de des restaurantul japonez de langa birou insa in timp ce pentru ei era ceva super comun pentru mine era ceva “super” caci din pacate la noi e mult prea greu si scump sa mananci sushi, ca de altfel multe alte tipuri de mancaruri diferite de friptura cu cartofi prajiti....
