Pulpitos

It took a snowy day to make me look into the buffer of unprocessed photos and bring something out. Here are the pulpitos: small roasted squid. Pulpitos There are 3 ingredients to this recipe: 1. The squids. Must be cleaned and dried. Remember that there are only 2 intervals of roasting time in which the squids will be soft: < 5 mins and > 30 mins :) 2. The parsley oil....

Fish cravings

Some days I go to the fish market an cannot stop buying around: small fish, calamari, squid, fish fillet, roe. Then all I need is a bit of corn flour, a bit of regular flour, salt, pepper and some spices for a nice crust and some patience to cut the onion for the roe salad. Add a nice tomato salad and some white bread and I’ve made my day. Fish cravings...

Jambalaya

And I just said I don’t like fancy titles. Shame on me. This however is a recipe with trekkie inspiration. Do you know what Captain Benjamin Sisko cooked for his friends on DS9? Jambalaya. I was wondering what jambalaya is so I found it. In fact I could be rude and call it a shrimp pilaf in my case since I did not had any raw shrimps to boil and use the stock for the rice....

Roe salad

As a child at my grandparents house I remember some long oval plates filled with roe salad and black olives which were served on special occasions. I also remember eating so much of it that the plate was hidden from me in the most unaccessible and higher places. I’ve tried matching the childhood taste but the commercial versions seems to be based mainly on various gums and thickening agents. Yet it’s quite easy to prepare a roe salad if you find fresh roe....

From the sea

I love seafood, I could replace almost everything else with it. And since the wonderfull fish market in Barcelona I’ve been dreaming of “pulpitos”. This very simple recipes consisting of fried little squids with lemon and parsley was prepared on spot there in the small restaurant. The trick is just to make sure you fry and not boil them in their own liquid so since my pan does not get too hot I drained them for a few times while leaving the pan to reheat....

Re, re, somon teriyaki

Prea bun, mult prea bun. Aroma dulce acrisoara, textura care se topeste in gura, amintire de mare. Si noodles, gustul care te surprinde, un pic dulceag, cu verdeata, aroma de primavara. Cuprinzator si satisfacator. Somon teriyaki

Teriyaki salmon

Inspired by the fish soup and the teriyaki method of cooking I’ve liked so much in meat I decided to try it on fish. The method is actually quite simple, you marinate the fish (fillet) in a sauce based on soya sauce and then you grill it. What I did not knew was how to use the remaining marinade to make some delicious soy noodles (inspired from here). Teriyaki salmon...
